Sources: OpenStreetMap via Nominatim (geocoding) and the Overpass API (business data). Facebook only catches both cases: a business tagged with a Facebook page and no website, and one whose “website” is itself a facebook.com link. Nothing at all means no website and no social link recorded. Custom search is free text, matching both the kind of business and its name — type gym, plumber, chiropractor, taqueria, or several at once (bakery, butcher). It reaches trades no category covers, and everyday words are translated to OSM’s own wording (gym → fitness centre, mechanic → car repair). Leave it blank to search the whole category; pick a Category alongside it to get results back faster. OSM is community-maintained, so some listings do have a site that simply isn’t mapped — hit Verify first. Chain locations are filtered out.
